I have had two runs with the new Garmin 205 and I think I am in love. It was sad to start the divorce process with my $5.55 watch from Walmart that has been so faithful to me for the last five months. Getting used to the weight increase has been the biggest factor so far. The first run was really weird and todays was not so bad. The first run I took with it I found myself staring at the damn thing the entire time of my run. I told my wife about looking it all the time while on the first run. The comedian in her responds with, "does it also show you the truck coming up behind you that is about to hit you?" Majority of my long runs take me across or down busy roads.
The first run was a struggle b/c of the humidity, side stitch (really bad), and not eating enough throughout the day. Todays run was pretty good. 4.61 miles in 51 minutes. Not my best effort by far but after having a reduced mileage week last week things feel a little off. I was able to play around with the lap feature this morning too.
Mile 1 - 10:02
Mile 2 - 10:52
Mile 3 - 11:35
Mile 4 - 12:11
Mile .61 - 10:21
It is nice to be able to break this down to see where I need to work on things. I am good for the first two miles or so but really fall off around mile three. Unfortunatly, that odd foot pain has returned in my right foot. I have tried every possible variation of tieing my shoes to get some relief but have not found any. When I drop off my race application tomorrow, I will talk to the experts at the local running shop.
